Pilot: The Gathering

As I mentioned in my last post, I discovered a couple of spoilers on the DVD cover for Season 2. My friend Allison kindly covered up the spoiler images on the other DVD boxes when she was over yesterday — thanks, Allison! :-)

Several of you advised me to watch The Gathering before going onto the second season, hence this out-of-order post. As soon as I began watching the pilot, I recognized the first scene: I did see this many years ago when it first aired. Or at least a segment of it — I recall losing interest partway through.

Part of the turn-off for me, I recall, was the wooden acting of some of the main characters. Yes, I know, I should have still given it a chance! At least I’m admitting I was wrong not to have persevered, right? Continue reading →

Season 1, Episode 22: Chrysalis

Yowza. Ok, so this episode more than made up for the previous. And of course at the end of the season, I’m left with SO MANY MORE QUESTIONS that I can’t possibly understand how you all stayed sane after watching it, knowing you had to wait until the next season to find out what happened next!

Season 1, Episode 21: The Quality Of Mercy

With everything that happened in the last episode, I confess I felt a bit let down by this one, though it was fun to see Londo corrupt Lennier AND find out that the latter is so good at hand-to-hand combat.

Season 1, Episode 20: Babylon Squared

Things are sure heating up as we near the end of the episode. At first, Jeff and I both thought it was going to turn into a “Yesterday’s Enterprise” (from STTNG) plot, but I loved the time travel twist in this episode’s plot. Plus WOW, a ton of intriguing plot developments. Continue reading →

Season 1, Episode 19: A Voice In The Wilderness (part 2)

Excellent episode.

My favourite line? Ivanova’s reply when Londo catches up with Ivanova in the corridor and demands to know what’s going on. Ivanova: “You want to know what’s really going on down there right now? Boom. Boom boom boom. Boom boom. Boom. Have a nice day.” Continue reading →

Season 1, Episode 18: A Voice In The Wilderness (part 1)

Wow, great episode. And a major cliffhanger! I’m writing this while waiting for Jeff to get back from an errand so we can watch Part 2. Continue reading →

Season 1, Episode 17: Legacies

Some great scenes with Talia and Ivanova in this episode. Love the seething hostility on Ivanova’s part; more and more, she’s one of my favourite characters. I predict that these two become close friends. Please don’t tell me if I’m right. Continue reading →

Season 1, Episode 16: Eyes

Loved finding out more about Ivanova in this episode! Even Jeff is warming up to her (he found her too wooden before). Fascinating to see how reluctant she was to be scanned. I know she hates Psi Corps for what they did to her mother, and she says she doesn’t want anything interfering with her memory of her mother, but I have to wonder: is there something else she’s trying to hide? Her reaction seemed so extreme for her character (or rather her character so far). Don’t answer that. Continue reading →

Season 1, Episode 15: Grail

(Update: I’ve fixed the header to read “Season 1″ instead of “Season 2″.)

Wow, all kinds of familiar faces here. Like Sebastian from Blade Runner! He makes a pretty good bad guy. And David Warner (seeing him always reminds me of one of my favourite movies, Time After Time). Continue reading →

Season 1, Episode 14: TKO

Ivanova is so gorgeous! And funny and smart and unafraid. Why can’t Garibaldi SEE this? Don’t answer me. Continue reading →
