About

I tried watching Babylon Five when it first premiered, but couldn’t get through the first episode. Years later, I’m giving it another shot…mainly because so many people whose opinion I respect seem to love the series.

I started post about this in my regular blog, but was worried about giving away spoilers to people who hadn’t seen the show but (like me) planned to try watching it, plus didn’t want to bore non-B5 types. Please don’t expect in-depth analysis or involved posts; this is most just an extension of my Blatherings (i.e. very casual).

I make no guarantees about frequency of posts. Please subscribe to the RSS feed if you want to be kept updated on when I make new posts. I’ll also be posting links to new entries in my Livejournal, and there’s also a LJ feed (thanks to Joseph Abbott for setting that up).

I’d appreciate it if you would NOT post spoilers about upcoming episodes in the comments section, thanks!

Updated Feb 10/2008:

Okay, I found the lyrics for a song I wrote for Urban Tapestry. I suppose if I actually do get through the entire series someday, I’ll have to write a follow-up song.

Anyway, here’s my one and only Babylon Five song, which I wrote before I ever saw any of the episodes:

	ME AND BABYLON FIVE
By Debbie Ridpath Ohi, July 1997
	Performed by Urban Tapestry

	C Am F G
Went to a party, stayed really late
	C Am F G
Met a cute guy there, we got on great, he
	Am G F Am
brought me a cappuccino, said his name was Clive, then he
	F G C Am F G
asked me if I watched Babylon Five.

	C Am F G
I said, I'm sorry, I've never watched that show, Clive
	C Am F G
glanced at his Rolex then said he had to go, I
	Am G
	saw him whisper to others,
	       F Am
who looked at me as if I had hives, and I
	F G C Am F G
knew it was because of Babylon Five.

	C Am F G
That night I went home and got on the net for
	C Am F G
as many B5 shows as I could get, I
	Am G F Am
waited by my mailbox for the package to arrive, then I
	F G C Am F G
sat down to watch some Babylon Five.

	C Am F G
88 episodes later, I staggered away, feeling like
	C Am F G
Londo Mollari on reeeally bad hair day, I
	Am G F Am
want to end this song now, I want to look for Clive,
	           F G C Am C Am C Am C
'cuz I've run out of rhymes...for Babylon Five!
