Season 5, Episodes 105: Movements of Fire and Shadow (1)

Weirdstuff going on! And not so weird but REALLY BAD stuff going on….

Watching the battle sequences, I can’t help but notice how much the special effects have improved since the first season.

“Yes,” says the guy “He will be sufficient.”

The Centauri are apparently starting to target the jumpgates, so Sheridan brings in the White Star fleet and authorizes them to fire on any Centauri ships that fire on the Alliance. Babylon Five is no longer neutral.

Sheridan asks Delenn to approach the Grey Council about approving construction of a new class of ship. She goes in person to maintain secrecy.

Vir asks Lyta and Franklin to go down to the Drazi homeworld to ask them to return the bodies of the Centauri who are killed in the war. YAY for Lyta for not just going along as she used to. Holy cow, has she gotten stronger! She’s so much more confident and asks for a higher fee because of the greater risk, and is not willing to negotiate. The money will go into a general fund to help telepaths escape the Psi Corps.

Vir: Has she changed, or is it me?

Franklin: Oh, she’s changed!

Meanwhile in the Centauri dungeon, Londo is sure that his supporters will rise up and demand that he be released. As he’s talking, however, something weird happens. A bright light fills the cell and an unconscious Londo is dragged about alien dudes.

Then Londo undergoes some kind of weird operation/examination, alien abduction style. Bizarro…

And the creature on the left looks vaguely familiar. Have we seen him before? DON’T TELL ME.

Was this real?? Who were those creatures?? Don’t tell me.

When Londo wakes up, he knows something’s wrong and has to get out of the cell. To help him save face, G’Kar throws up dinner so Londo has an excuse to leave the cell. Yech!

B5’s jumpgate is attacked by a Centauri ship booby trap, but Alpha Squadron saves the day.

Meanwhile, some of the other races are banding together to attack Centauri Prime despite direct orders from Sheridan telling them NOT to do this. Understandably, Sheridan is pissed.

Instead of finding Centauri bodies, Franklin and Lyta discover that the Centauri warships were carrying Shadow technology that enabled the remote control of the ships.

Delenn’s and Lennier’s White Star is hit by Centauri war cruisers. Jump engines are offline and most of the crew are killed. Yikes. What will Sheridan do when he finds out that Delenn didn’t reach Minbar? And Lennier’s leg is broken in two places. :-(

The actor that plays the Regent is great. He does a fantastic job at acting like a deranged and tortured soul.

The Regent has sent away Centauri Prime’s ships and turned off the planet’s defenses.

Londo is horrified.

Yikes.

NO WAY. Centauri Prime can’t be destroyed. Londo and G’Kar are on the planet! I’m also confused…if They want Londo to be Emperor next, he can’t die, right? (Don’t tell me.)

AAAAAAUUUUUUUUGGGHHHHHHHH what a cliffhanger! And, unbelieveably, we’re not going to be able to watch the next episode tonight because Jeff has a bunch of work to do and we’re watching these episodes together and I think my head’s going to explode argh…

<3 Regent! Again, the Centauri Prime parts are just fantastic. So epic…Londo’s story seems like something right out of Shakespeare. Omg the Regent’s last speech is amazing.

Lennier is always awesome. He’s still my favorite character, though Sinclair comes close, as does Lyta (in her later seasons) and Bester (for sheer bad guy awesomeness) and Vir (because he just rocks).
