Season 5, Episodes 104: And All My Dreams, Torn Asunder

I already guessed from the title that this episode wasn’t going to be terribly cheerful.

No wonder Sheridan’s scowling. Those pillows don’t look very comfortable to me.

Londo and Vir are excluded from a Council meeting. :-(

So much in that brief conversation between Londo and G’Kar when G’Kar tells him that the Council is ready to see him. Londo is truly hurt when he thinks that G’Kar was only pretending to be his bodyguard; I was so glad when G’Kar reassured him that he wasn’t spying on him. But it turns out that G’Kar -did- notice Londo’s confusion over the missing warships and military supplies, but chose to respect Londo’s privacy…an act that Londo thanks him for.

It’s clear from Londo’s reaction that he knew nothing about the attacks. I admit that a tiny (TINY!) part of me was worried that Londo did know what was going on.

“As of now, the Centauri Republic stands alone,” says Sheridan.

Cool to hear Londo telling the Lying Centauri Guy on the comm that Lennier is honest and that he would never say that he was somewhere if he wasn’t.

Londo goes back to the Council and tells them that the Centauri are withdrawing from the Alliance. He sincerely believes that the Centauri are innocent, that the Centauri would never attack civilians during peacetime.

Londo decides to go back to Centauri and tells Vir to stay on B5.

Augh. It sounds as if Londo might never come back to B5. That can’t be. He has to come back – all his friends are on B5!

G’Kar volunteers to go back with Londo as his bodyguard.

!!!

I don’t like the implications of G’Kar giving his final book notes to Delenn just in case anything happens to him. This sounds way too much like a final good-bye.

No way. Nothing’s going to happen to G’Kar. He is by far my favourite B5 character at this point, and nothing bad is going to happen to him. He’s already been through SO MUCH. Despite all that, he’s managed to retain his sense of humour and optimism.

STOP with the tears, Delenn. Nothing bad is going to happen to G’Kar.

Don’t tell me.

G’kar: Good bye Delenn.
Delenn: G’kar, I have I ever told you that you are one of the finest writers that I have ever met? And that it has been an honor to work beside you on the Alliance?
G’kar: Not in words, but the thing about losing one eye is that makes you look deeply into the eyes of another. I found in yours all the thanks I will ever require in this life or in any other.

Zack figures out that Garibaldi is drinking again, but Garibaldi convinces him not to tell anyone, to give him a little time to sort things out.

Sigh.

AUGH. After promising Zack he was trying to get better, Garibaldi drinks himself into a drunken stupor AGAIN and fails to hear a super-important incoming message from a White Star pilot.

The Centauri tell Londo that war has broken out, and that they’re arresting G’Kar. Londo insists that where G’Kar goes, he will go. I cheered for Londo at that moment; he’s certainly changed since earlier seasons.

Unfortunately this results in him being tossed in a cell along with G’Kar.

“I don’t understand anything anymore,” says Londo to G’Kar.

The Centauri Prime stuff was pretty much my favorite thing about season 5. It was so developed and well-done it just boggled my mind.

As I watch these again, I wondered why that on B5, Londo was addressed as Ambasador, while he is Prime Minister to the Centari? And that Vir should have been addressed and viewed as Ambasador, instead of side-kick Cotto?

Didn’t B5 ever hear of redundent messaging systems.

It’s interesting that the Centari warships are also atmospheric ships.
