Season 4, Episode 83: The Face Of The Enemy

Apologies for the hiatus. Shortly after I posted the last report, my father fell ill. It was a pretty stressful time, and then we had visitors, then we went to the cottage a few times, work deadlines got a bit crazy…well, you get the picture.

But I’m getting back to B5…

I still can’t believe that Garibaldi went ahead and betrayed Sheridan! Argh. And Sheridan insists on trusting Garibaldi despite Ivanova’s protests. The strobe-like scene where Sheridan is beat up after he meets Garibaldi is pretty disturbing. :-(

And now we find out more about what Edgars has been planning, to kill off all the telepaths.

Edgars: President Clark isn’t the real problem, he’s trivial. One way or another he’ll be gone in a few years, but the telepaths he put in power, the Psi Corps, those will be with us forever. That’s the real danger. If information is power, then telepaths represent the greatest threat to freedom we’ve ever seen. We have to deal with that, or face the very real possibility of our own extinction.

Intriguing. I wonder how much of the next season will deal with the hostility between the telepaths and the “mundanes”?

And we also find out that Bester and Psi Corps was behind Garibaldi’s period of amnesia as well as his weird behaviour.

“Go back,” Bester tells the frozen Garibaldi in the train car. “Go back and remember.”

Poor Garibaldi, TOTALLY used by Bester. How is he going to recover from this? I hope he gets revenge on Bester somehow.

I really hate seeing Sheridan being treated like this. :-(

And man oh man, do I feel like punching that ISN newscaster in her plastic smile as she goes on about how Captain Sheridan’s being well treated and how he regrets his actions etc. etc.

But I’d hit Bester first. What a slimeball! I don’t care if he’s in love with that telepath.

Next episode: Intersections in Real Time

It’s good to see you back, and I hope things are going well for you now. I hope I’m not spoiling anything if I point this out: Bester is completely amoral, but he is neither stupid nor suicidal.

Welcome back! I was wondering where you’d got to.

Did you notice the other speaking telepath in the B&W scene with Bester in the PsyCorps compound? Harlan Ellison.

Beatrice & Mollydot: Thanks!

Sherman: Hey no, I didn’t know that! Now I want to watch the episode again.
