Season 4, Episode 76: Racing Mars

Marcus and Franklin meet with the Mars resistance but things don’t go as smoothly as hoped. The parasite things are spreading! Garibaldi and Sheridan clash, and Garibaldi agrees to help the Bad Guys bring down Sheridan. Sheridan and Delenn find each other’s pleasure centers.

Heh, I like the way Ivanova forces Sheridan to take a mini-vacation.

Also love the scene where Franklin and Marcus are playing “I Spy.” In fact, I love all the interaction between these two. They’re like the Odd Couple. And I really love the fact that they’re posing as a married couple.

Marcus: Just my luck. The first time in my life I am a war hero and nobody knows about it. And worst of all, I’m married to you.
Franklin: Well that’s not my idea.
Marcus: Ooo… you say that now. Tell that to your mother! She never stopped calling us about it. So when’s the big day. I’ve got to pick out patterns. Your father’s not going to live forever, and on and on and on and on.

I still don’t get why Garibaldi is so angry with Sheridan. Sure, I can SORT of see where he’s coming from, but he seems to be overreacting in a major way. I really really want to know what happened to him during those two weeks he can’t remember!

Poor Sheridan. He so wants to make the peace with Garibaldi, but Garibaldi isn’t giving him the chance.

No, Garibaldi! Don’t side with the bad guys!! :-(

Ivanova’s a great negotiator, isn’t she?

Ivanova: Everyone’s entitled to a fresh start.
Smuggler: You’re even willing to forget about the business…
Ivanova: Yes, even though it did make Mr. Garibaldi’s hair fall out. You had no way of knowing what was in that bottle. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it, just in case he asks.

There are a lot of great lines in this episode. :-)

Whoa, looks like Captain Jack had one of those parasite-things! Same as the Centauri Emperor Regent, and same as the one Londo had in that alternate future.

Poor Captain Jack. I didn’t like him at first, but it seems as if he didn’t have much choice and that he was trying to warn Franklin as best he could. How sad that he gave Franklin his daughter’s address in case anything happens to him.

Scary that the parasite grows back.

I really hope none of the characters I care about get one of those parasites. :-(

Heh, I like Sheridan’s expression when he realizes that Lennier and those other Minbari are going to right outside the door while Delenn and Sheridan find each other’s “pleasure centers.” :-)

Lennier [to Sheridan]: Woo-hoo?

NO! GARIBALDI, DON’T DO IT!!!

I’m glad there’s enough of the old Garibaldi that he seems to still care about Sheridan somewhat, at least enough to tell the Bad Guys that he won’t hurt Sheridan.

Next episode: Lines of Communication

I that an am now many episodes in front of you, I forget when some of the details where Garabaldi seems to be noticing things about himself, but the clues do seem to be before him. I will say that he probably had something there where he did react violently to his captivity back at the start of the season. Perhaps he knew that such a memory would be harder to erase by his {known or unknown} captors.

The thing that always floors me about this episode is that Delenn would allow Lennier to be in the next room with the other Minbari while she and Sheridan “explore each other’s pleasure”. She -must- know how Lennier feels about her and it just seems cruel. Maybe she feels Lennier can handle it or simply must learn to handle it, but it would be nice to think Lennier’s feelings on the situation at least crossed her mind.

poor Garabaldi … He has more things happen to him during the run of this show than almost anyone else and he’s not even the star of the show.

Shoot in the back
Kidnapped
Lost Love…. or lost out on great sex ;-)
and more problems to come….

Lennier [to Sheridan]: Woo-hoo?
Prophetess Ohi scores again. You seem to have used that expression a number of times in these writtings. Your search function shows me 10 write-ups, starting with S1, ep 6:
Woohoo, Chekov’s in this episode!
