Introduction: Babylon Five Virgin

I decided to start this blog as an extension of Blatherings to avoid giving away spoilers to those who haven’t watched the series and who (like me) still plan to give it a shot. Please see my About page (in the top navigation header) for more details about why I’ve launched this blog.

You should be warned that I make no guarantees about the frequency or quality of posts. If I end up hating the series, I will just stop posting. And get lynched by avid B5 fans, I’m sure. But I suspect I’m not going to hate it.

I tried to start a Buffy one, complete with ratings and reviews. Then I realized that no episodes would ever get anything below a 4/5, so i figured the whole thing was moot. Bonne chance with the Baby!

Hm, I should try giving Buffy a chance sometime.

.. but this isn’t the “People Who Watch Buffy Blog”. :-)

Make it through the first season, and all will be well. Even in the first season you meet the great characters. J’Kar and Londo are great, not only because they are somewhat caricatures of a mish-mash of cultures, but because they *grow*. And not in a sudden, ratings-grabbing way. Slowly over time, just like real people.

I think B5 was the first show to have such a heavy, well-defined story arc. This is no never-ending soap opera. Everything has a beginning and an end.
